Cavan Monaghan Science Festival

Cavan Monaghan Science Festival will launch their fourth science festival in conjunction with Cavan and Monaghan County Council’s in early November.  It will run from the 9th - 23th November 2018 and is supported by Science Foundation Ireland.

The objectives of the festival are to increase the awareness and visibility of science in our society, promote the importance of science for economic growth, to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at a local & regional level and to show that STEM is fun, educational and social.

The theme for Science Festival 2019 is Climate Action but events on Astronomy will be included to celebrate 50 years since man first stepped on the Moon in 1969. There are 3 strands to the programme ranging from the family fun day this year taking place on 9th November in St. Aidan’s Comprehensive School in Cootehill. Talks and lectures in various venues and a school’s programme. Talks range from Agricultural Sustainability, Bird Identification and Feeding, Fingerprinting in Forensics, Astrophotography, Tax Entitlements, Why become a Blood donor? and Concussion, are we adequately addressing the issue?  Booklets are available in your local library!
