International Women's Day 2025
Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive, where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively for #IWD2025 we can all
#AccelerateActionAt the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, which is 133 years from now, to reach full gender parity, according to data from the World Economic Forum.
We were delighted to be joined by
Maria Walsh as we celebrated International Women's Day in Johnston Central Library, Cavan on Saturday 8th of March.
During the discussions, Maria highlighted the substantial gender pay difference which still exists in the workplace as well as the roles women are taking on in modern politics at a local, national and European level. On this day of reflection, Maria also spoke of the prevalence of domestic violence in Ireland and suicide in modern Ireland.
Maria was presented with a rose at the end of the event which was made as part of the International Womens Day Crochet Flower workshops with
Crafting Your Soul and funded through Creative Ireland. This group made 133 flowers to promote the
#AccelerateAction campaign and to highlight the 133 years it is estimated for women to achieve full gender parity.
Thanks to everyone who came along and joined us for this wonderful event.
