Cavan County Council launches its Creative Cavan Open Call Grants 2025

Cavan County Council’s Culture and Creativity Strategy 2023-2027 seeks to provide opportunities for access, participation, and engagement in culture and creativity for all citizens. Cavan County Council will award a limited number of grants to creative projects in the county under the Creative Ireland Programme.

The Creative Ireland grant scheme is suited towards local and community groups and individuals, artistic and creative practitioners, event organisers, and those involved in creative, cultural, and heritage activities and projects.

This grant scheme is supported by the national Creative Ireland Programme. Successful applications must demonstrate compatibility with the Cavan Culture and Creativity Strategy 2023-2027. Preference will be given to projects that demonstrate the potential to creatively promote:

  • Health, Wellbeing, Heritage, Biodiversity, or Creative Climate Action.

Available grants

Applications are invited for the following grants under Cavan County Council’s Creative Ireland Grant Scheme: 

  • Micro Grants – between €500 and €2,500 in value to be delivered by 27 September 2025
  • Strategic Grants – between €2,500 and €15,000 in value to be delivered by 31 August 2026. This grant will allow potential projects which will require a longer delivery time and respective budget to be delivered. 

Organisations may only apply for one of the above grants and those in receipt of a 2024/2025 grant are exempt from applying. Open call guidance notes can be found here.

  • Cruinniú na nÓg Grants – up to €5,000 in value to be delivered by 7 June 2025.  Events or programmes must include a delivery element on Saturday 7 June 2025.

  • Johnston Central Library, Farnham Centre, Cavan: Tuesday, 18 February, 4.30pm – 7pm
  • Cootehill Library, Cootehill: Wednesday, 19 February, 2.30pm to 4.30pm
  • Virginia Library, Virginia: Thursday, 20 February, 4.30pm – 7pm

It is a desirable objective to ensure a broad geographical spread in projects funded.  Creative Cavan particularly welcome projects which incorporate the Irish Language.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via Cavan County Council's online portal consult.cavancoco.ie. The application page will open on Tuesday 10 February 2025. Applicants will be required to register for the consult.cavancoco.ie online portal in order to apply. Registration can be completed in advance of applications opening on 10th February.

The portal will save your progress, allowing you to return to your application and complete it in multiple sessions, if required. 

The closing date by which completed applications must be submitted is 5pm on Wednesday, 5 March 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.
