Shared Classroom Reading

Classroom Novels and Encouraging Reads

To enable shared reading in the classroom Cavan Library Service has an extensive collection of Classroom Novels and Encouraging Reads for varying reading abilities and a range of interests. 20 copies of each title are available to Primary school teachers.

The Classroom Novel and Encouraging Reads lending schemes are in addition to the regular lending of books to primary school classes, and we encourage use of all schemes to maximise the variety of reading material in the classroom. Teachers must be registered members of Cavan Library Service.

Classroom Novels

We have carefully chosen 38 different titles to excite and engage pupils. These titles are generally suitable for 3rd - 6th class.

View, download and print the Classroom Novels Guide. Contact your local library to register your interest. We advise that you identify a list of three titles of interest as there is huge demand for Class Novels. Your chosen novel may not be available but staff will do their best to help. You will be notified when your chosen title is available for collection.

Encouraging Reads

Our collection of Easy Reads will motivate and encourage younger readers and reluctant readers. These titles are generally suitable for Junior Infants - 2nd Class

View, download and print the Encouraging Reads Guide. Contact your local library to register your interest. We advise that you identify a list of three titles of interest as there is huge demand for Easy Reads. Your chosen novel may not be available but staff will do their best to help.
