A day of free creativity for children and young people

Ireland is the first, and only, country in the world to have a national day of free creativity for children and young people under 18. Cruinniú na nÓg is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth Plan to enable the creative potential of children and young people on Saturday 15 June 2024.

This year’s Cruinniú na nÓg will spread its (fairy) wings for a special cross-border event in Cavan Burren Park as well as a host of other locations throughout Co Cavan

‘A Giant Adventure - Fairy Folklore'  is an exciting family fun day full of creativity celebrating the many myths and legends surrounding Cavan Burren Park, taking place on Cruinniú na nÓg, Ireland’s national day of youth and creativity.

In a first for Cruinniú na nÓg, this event will feature a cross border-collaboration between Cavan County Council and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, who jointly manage the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark, the world’s first cross-border Geopark.

Tales of giant’s graves, druids’ alters, and ghostly water horses surround the otherworldly Cavan Burren Park, and this special event will immerse children and young people in the mythology of this ethereal landscape, before taking them on a journey of creativity through different creative media.

The project has been made possible through the Cruinniú na nÓg Shared Island initiative, secured by Cavan County Council through Creative Cavan.
