In 1946, the Belturbet Development Committee Show sub-committee, and the Belturbet Co-operative Agricultural and Dairy Society sought to re-establish an Agricultural Show in the town. On 26 August of that year, a show took place in Frankie O'Reilly's field in the townland of Kilconny. The records show that the town previously held such shows until the early 1900s under the auspices of the Belturbet Agricultural and Technical Association. The Belturbet Agricultural Show ran from 1946 to 2004 when the show finally came to an end. The show was only ever cancelled three times during its history. This occurred after the Millenium when firstly, foot and mouth struck in 2001 followed by bad weather in 2002 and 2003.
