Libraries matter
Cavan County Council’s Library Service provides unlimited and free access to information, education, leisure, entertainment and business development. CavanLibrary Service exists to improve and enhance the quality of life for all ages and all groups in society. Our service is a conduit for active citizenship and a hub for local activity.
We are proud to provide:
Four full-time libraries - Johnston Central Library, Bailieborough Library, Cootehill Library and Virginia Library
Five part-time libraries - Belturbet, Arva, Ballyconnell, Ballyjamesduff and Kingscourt
Free library membership and free lending for all. Our no fines policy breaks down all barriers to library membership.
Four multi-purpose spaces with active and engaging arts, cultural, educational and community events programming.

Free Wi-Fi and Internet access
Dedicated study spaces and with access to photocopying/printing/scanning facilities
An extensive Local History Collection and Local History Service
